SMS Deliverability

To enable sending SMS for CBD, Vape and Mushroom related verticals, Umbrella uses unregistered 10 DLC numbers. To be able to send volume through these numbers and avoid spam filters we assign pool of numbers used per account.

Carriers use spam filters to filter out unwanted messages. Spam filter can be triggered by certain words and not all carriers have the same criteria. We recommend sending test to the team members using different carriers to and tweaking the message content until the whole team receives the message.
Our system won’t allow sending known trigger words, however, we don’t have a final list of words that might trigger the filter.

Additionally, based on our data, we discovered that carriers are looking into domain and brand reputation. Certain brands consistently have high deliverability, while others get blocked after filters recognize them. If your brand consistently suffers with low deliverability rates, even after implementing all the other recommendations regarding content and links and changing sending numbers, please consider getting another domain and creating a landing page for your brand. Research different tactics and strategies to improve your overall brand reputation. Install Google Postmaster Tools to keep track of your domain reputation and follow suggestions for improvement. Google Postmaster Tools is primarily used for email deliverability, but it tracks brand reputation so it can help you improve overall.

Based on our experiments, we discovered that changing the position of the brand name in the message can improve deliverability. Instead of placing your brand name at the beginning of the message, add it in the middle of the content to break the pattern that filters expect. This tactic doesn’t work every time as other factors might play the role, but it is worth trying together with testing overall message content.
