Help customers recognize your texts by explaining your SMS program before the first campaign. A branded landing page gives subscribers one place to learn what to expect and get answers.
1. Introduce your SMS program
Use your brand name and familiar design. Explain the types of promotional texts subscribers may receive, such as offers, product announcements, or cart reminders where supported. Keep the page easy to find from your website and signup prompts.
2. Make signup expectations clear
Tell customers that they are subscribing to promotional text messages. Describe your program and any joining offer accurately, including relevant limits. A purchase or customer record alone does not establish marketing SMS consent.
3. Answer common subscriber questions
- Who will text me? Identify your brand and explain how customers can recognize your messages.
- What will I receive? Describe the promotions and updates your program actually sends.
- How often will I receive texts? State the frequency or explain that it varies, consistent with your program.
- How do I stop messages or get help? Provide your program’s opt-out and help instructions and a support contact.
- Do I have to subscribe to buy? Make clear that subscribing is optional and consent is not a condition of purchase.
Have your signup disclosures and program terms reviewed for your business before launch.
Real-world example: Happy Hippo
View Happy Hippo’s SMS landing page ↗
The page introduces its refreshed SMS program, explains subscriber benefits, and includes signup, help, and opt-out information. Use its organization as inspiration; your incentive, message types, and disclosures should reflect your own program.
4. Announce and test before sending
Introduce the program through your website, store signage, and appropriate existing communication channels. Test the landing page and signup flow on mobile, then check that the welcome message identifies your brand and matches the expectations set during signup.
Clear expectations and consistent branding can reduce confusion, but do not guarantee that every recipient will recognize a text or that every message will be delivered.
5. Review campaign and automation results
On request, Umbrella can provide a monthly Snapshot Report covering campaign and automation performance, based on the data available for your account. Ask your client success contact to arrange reporting.
