Lightspeed POS Integration & Customer Segmentation Documentation
1. Single-Click Authentication & Data Sync
The integration features a streamlined activation process designed to minimize technical friction:
- One-Click Connection: Merchants can connect Lightspeed POS to Umbrella seamlessly with a single button click in the dashboard, initializing secure OAuth authentication.
- Core Data Ingestion: Once authorized, Umbrella automatically fetches and continuously syncs historic and real-time transaction components, including:
- Order Data: Complete transactional details, order history, timestamps, and order channels.
- Product Data: Catalog structural info, SKUs, inventory categories, and pricing matrices.
- Customer Profiles: Contact demographics, identities, and unique retail purchase histories.
2. Pre-Defined Segmentation Matrix
Using the synced retail data from Lightspeed, Umbrella populates an array of automated, pre-defined behavioral segments to track health indicators like valid phone numbers, valid emails, total customer counts, and total revenue per segment.
| Pre-Defined Segment | Functional Application / Definition |
|---|---|
| Paying Customers | All unified consumer profiles who have successfully completed at least one transaction. |
| Most Active Customers | Shoppers who exhibit the highest frequency of store visits and interactions over a designated timeframe. |
| First Purchase | New customer who have recently transitioned from prospects by completing their very first order. |
| Never Purchased | Acquired leads, subscribers, or walking store profiles who have not yet converted into active buyers. |
| Lost | Historical shoppers who have completely ceased buying activities beyond the expected lifecycle window. |
| At Risk | Previously active users whose purchasing velocity has dropped significantly, showing signs of potential churn. |
| Active | Current consumers who consistently engage, browse, or purchase within the standard operational window. |
| Full Price Customers | Buyers who purchase products exclusively at standard retail pricing without applying discounts or promo codes. |
| Value Shoppers | Price-sensitive consumers who primarily complete checkouts when items are discounted, on sale, or attached to promotions. |
| High AOV | Premium accounts maintaining a high Average Order Value that places them well above the store standard. |
| Low AOV | Patrons who regularly make purchases but maintain a lower spending average per individual transaction. |
| Big Spenders | High-value shoppers grouped by significant total monetary investments across their entire lifetime. |
| VIP Customers | Top-tier consumer profiles exhibiting a powerful combination of high lifetime spend, loyalty, and purchase frequency. |
| Big Ticket Spenders | Individuals targeting individual luxury or large-scale retail items with high individual product value. |
| Small Ticket Spenders | Frequent or infrequent buyers focusing outlays primarily on lower-cost accessories, add-ons, or entry-level stock. |
| Location-Based (e.g., Mota Varachha – All Customers) | Geographic cohorts isolating all users associated with specific physical store locations, regions, or outposts. |
3. Secondary Custom Segmentation Capabilities
Beyond automated pre-defined groupings, operators can build granular custom target lists by combining standard identity attributes with behavioral financial metrics. Filters include:
- Demographic & Identity Attributes: Filter target audiences by geographic State, verified Phone Number presence, valid Email ID availability, and User Name patterns.
- Financial & Transactional Metrics: Group consumers according to Lifetime Customer Revenue or Total Number of Orders executed across their lifecycle.
